Lanzhou University organized a seminar on the 100th anniversary of Mr. Chen Shupeng's birth

On November 28th, 2020, the academic seminar on the 100th anniversary of Mr. Chen Shupeng's birth and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System was held by the Geographical Society of China and the Scientific Ethics Construction Committee, CAS. The main venue is at the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, and the branch venue is at Lanzhou University.

At the meeting, more than ten academicians and guests, including Wang Qinmin, vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, Xu Guanhua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fu Bojie, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, reviewed Mr. Chen's life story and lessons learned from Mr. Chen, and deeply discussed the remote sensing science and geo-information science thought advocated by Mr. Chen.

Mr. Chen Shupeng was born in 1920 in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province. Since his youth, he has been on the front line of scientific research and devoted his whole life to the cause of geography and geo-information science. He has been an academician of the International Academy for Europe and Asia, CAS, and the Third World Academy of Sciences. Mr. Chen has won many awards and achieved a lot in his life. As a great master of his generation, Mr. Zhang cherished benevolence and talent all his life, helped young people to learn from others. He constantly opened up new fields of geo-information science, laying a solid foundation for the State Key Laboratory of resources and environmental information system to move to the forefront of national geo-information science.
