应兰州大学资源环境学院、西部环境教育部重点实验室潘保田教授邀请，英国杜伦大学地理系教授David Richard Bridgland于8月3日至8月8日访问我校，并作学术报告。

报告人简介

David R. Bridgland教授是英国杜伦大学地理系的教授，学术专长为第四纪科学，主要致力于河流地貌序列和考古学的研究，是欧洲河流地貌学和气候地貌学主要奠基者之一。他早期的研究工作主要集中在英国泰晤士河流域，首次将泰晤士河阶地与全球记录和考古记录对比，建立了前人类世地质环境，开创了河流阶地序列全球对比的新篇章。2003年获得了国际地质联合会颁发的“Henry Stopes Memorial Medal”奖，以表彰其在古人类和地质环境研究的突出贡献。介于David R. Bridgland教授在河流地貌学研究领域的突出影响力，1996年作为主要创始人发起并组建了国际学术组织“Quaternary Research Association (QRA)”后期改名为“FLAG”(Fluvial Archives Group)，主要致力于河流地貌研究和全球对比。2010年David R. Bridgland 教授被推选为新一届FLAG主席。2009-2012，他进入国际地质学家联合会，并被推选为联合会副主席，推动了“Proceedings of the Geologists’ Association”期刊的创办，同时发起了面向解决21世纪地学前沿课题的学术组织“Geoconservation for Science and Society”。1997-2010年间，承担了Leverhulme Trust和（IGCP）International geological correlation Programme连续资助的重大项目，探索以河流阶地记录为突破口分析晚新生代地貌和气候演化的尝试，获得巨大成功。

获奖：

Henry Stopes Memorial Medal奖，表彰其在古人类和地质环境研究的突出贡献，（颁奖单位：国际地质联合会）；

PhD City of London Polytechnic (CNAA)奖，表彰其在英国肯特北部和艾塞克斯东部河流沉积研究的突出贡献，（颁奖单位：英国政府）；
