报告人简介：

Peter Clift is a sedimentary geologist who has specialised in the geology of climate-tectonic interactions and in particular the evolution of the Asian monsoon and its relationship to mountain building in the Cenozoic Asia. Clift did his BA at the University of Oxford and a PhD on the tectonics of Greece at the University of Edinburgh. He subsequently worked extensively with scientific ocean drilling and helped coordinate the exploration of Asian marginal seas for reconstructing monsoon intensity. He was assistant and then associate scientist at the Wood Hole Oceanographic institution before becoming a Professor of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, then was the Professor of Petroleum Geology for 12 years at Louisiana State University. He returned to the United Kingdom in 2023 to University College London where he continues his interest in the Geology of Asia, especially the erosion and climatic history.
